Steel band is just metal drums that sound kind of like Hawaiian music, personally to me but I still love it! In Steel Band the first year we went over the basic's like notes, clef's bass and treble, and more! Once we got done going over all the basic's we actually went to look at the drums that we could play and liked to play! There is the lead's, have the melody most of the time, double seconds, guitar cello, and basses!
Steel Band is actually very fun! We go on trip's and have concert's!!! Steel Band isn't hard to play or get the hang of, It's very easy! You just cant hit the pan that hard because then it would get out of tune and that would be bad because then you have to get a tuner fix it and that would cost money and then when you play it wouldn't sound good.
In Steel Band I play the bass which has the bass clef, The treble and bass clef have different notes only the guitar cellos and basses have the bass clef, leads and double seconds have treble clef.

In band in general there is the bass clef and the treble clef. The easy ways to remember the different notes is a sentence that gives you notes.
For the Treble clef the sentence is Every Good Boy Does Fine, those are the ones on the lines, the ones in the middle, to remember then it's F A C E .
For the Base clef the sentence to remember are Good Boys Do Fine Always, those are the ones on the line, for the ones between then are All Cows Eat Grass.
These are pretty silly and funny to remember but they really do help me while I'm righting in my notes. And these are what makes part of steel band fun!! The other fun part is playing and having fun because that is what steel band is about, and make good music. In steel band we didn't write in our notes at first, instead are teacher, Miss. Jordan, she got music that had the notes already written in, then after we started to write in our notes and rythems.

In steel band we had are beginning of the year concert the we went the Dayton Dragons game and we played and the High School played too, we only played 3 songs while the high School played I believe was 8 songs! then the choir sand the national anthem and we watched the game! Once the game was over we went back to the school and we had to unload ALL the pans, it was fun. Then we had are end of the year concert which we played only 3 songs, the ones from the Dayton dragons game! But what we manly do in Steel Band is practice are songs and sometimes we might have a little test or worksheet that we have to fill out which isn't too bad.
